University of Pavia

UNIPV is one of the oldest European Universities with typical “education & research” double mission.  The structural biology laboratory led by Andrea Mattevi (www.unipv.it/biocry) is at the Department of Biology and Biotechnology.  The laboratory has a strong background in structural and biochemical studies of enzymes and protein complexes. The laboratory is equipped with fermentors, cell disruptors, AKTA systems for protein purification, microcalorimeter, plate reader, and thermofluor for binding assays, spectrophotometers for enzymatic assays, temperature controlled rooms for crystallization, several workstations for crystallographic computing and computer graphics, and a robot for protein crystallization with nanoliter volumes.  The main task of the UNIPV will be in WP1 and WP2 with regard to the engineering, identification, structural and functional characterisation of robust P450s, BVMOs and oxidases, including in silico design and biochemical validation of the enzymes.
