ACIB present ROBOX at Bundesgymansium Leoben

ACIB organises a few events for school pupils to visit their institute to learn about biotechnology, current scientific developments and conduct some standard experiments in the teaching laboratory.

On the 10th of February 2016 a class of 15 year old pupils from the Bundesgymansium Leoben, Austria came to visit (21 pupils, 2 teachers). Margit Winkler from the ACIB ROBOX team gave an introduction to their work including highlighting the ROBOX project in very general terms. After the seminar Margit Winkler and Thorsten Bachler, together with 4 other tutors, demonstrated some experiments; the pupils were then given the opportunity to gather some hands-on experience in the lab. In parallel, a Poster was used to remind the pupils of what they have learnt in the seminar and to explain specific aspects. The pupils and teachers enjoyed this half day event very much, some of them asking about the possibility to join the research group as summer-interns!
